Overview
The Master’s Degree Programme in Accounting and Finance offers a comprehensive range of skills that align perfectly with key professional routes, especially roles such as Administration, Finance and Control Manager, Chartered Accountant, and Statutory Auditor.
The programme is part of a long-standing academic tradition in accounting. Venice was, in fact, the city where Luca Pacioli published the first book on double-entry bookkeeping in 1494, which brought international recognition to the accounting method. Ca’ Foscari itself was established in 1868 as the Royal School of Commerce. Moreover, the Italian “fathers” of Accounting and Business Economics — Fabio Besta and Gino Zappa — both taught at Ca’ Foscari for many years.
Agreements [ITA] with the “Ordine dei Dottori Commercialisti e degli Esperti Contabili” (Association of Chartered Accountants) and with the “Ordine dei Consulenti del Lavoro” (Association of Labour Consultants) also allow students, during their final year, to complete six months of professional internship training.
This programme will teach you to:
- address issues related to the accounting representation and communication of business activities, in accordance with national and international standards
- design management control systems; oversee the preparation of technical accounting tools and other instruments supporting decision-making; and assist operational managers in the use of economic information
- support the development of the company’s financial strategies, identify appropriate sources of financing and funding instruments, and manage relationships with financial markets
- design technical structures and processes for corporate risk control and support the implementation of resulting actions
- assess the key legal implications of business decisions and practices, both in relation to internal organisation and dealings with external parties
Opinions
Programme coordinator
“The Master’s Degree Programme in Accounting and Finance combines a solid theoretical foundation (financial statements, corporate finance, management control) with strong practical application. Lectures, business cases, and guest speakers provide the right mix to develop the managerial skills needed to build a career in business or as a consultant specialising in these areas.”
