Internationalisation and support for deserving students: Ca’ Foscari and the SAVE group sign agreement to fund scholarships in China

SAVE Group President Enrico Marchi and Ca’ Foscari University Rector Tiziana Lippiello.

Creating international opportunities and supporting deserving students: this is the shared vision behind the agreement signed yesterday afternoon at Ca’ Foscari University’s central headquarters by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and the SAVE Group, which manages the airports of the Venice-Treviso hub. The agreement provides for the allocation of mobility grants for students enrolled in double degree programmes in China.

The SAVE Group has pledged a contribution of €30,000 for the 2025–2026 academic year, which will be used to supplement scholarships for students selected to participate in two double degree programmes with Capital Normal University in Beijing: one linked to the Bachelor’s degree in Languages, Cultures and Societies of Asia and Mediterranean Africa, and the other to the Master’s degree in Languages and Civilisations of Asia and Mediterranean Africa. Thanks to this support, the selected students will have the opportunity to spend part of their academic programme in China, immersed in a culturally and academically rich international environment.

Under the current agreements with Capital Normal University, 30 places are available for the undergraduate double degree programme in Chinese Language, and 8 places for the Master’s level double degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. The total funding will be divided equally among recipients, with the individual scholarship amounts to be determined upon completion of the selection process.

Ca’ Foscari Rector Tiziana Lippiello commented: Thanks to this new agreement, for which I thank President Marchi, Ca’ Foscari is expanding its study abroad opportunities, an area where we already surpass the national average among Italian universities. International mobility has always been a hallmark of our university, and we continue to pursue our internationalisation goals with determination, offering a growing number of opportunities to gain educational experiences abroad and become global citizens. In this context, Ca’ Foscari emphasises double degree programmes, providing our student community with exceptional learning experiences. Through this agreement, Ca’ Foscari and the SAVE Group reaffirm their shared commitment to investing in the international education and skills of younger generations, contributing in a tangible way to building cultural and academic bridges between Italy and China.

President of the SAVE Group, Enrico Marchi: “The agreement signed with Ca’ Foscari University and our contribution to scholarships form part of the strong collaborative relationship we have built with the Venetian university – a dialogue rooted in a shared vision and common goals, with the creation and facilitation of international connections being central to our mission as an airport operator. The students awarded these scholarships will have a unique opportunity for in-depth learning and exchange with Chinese culture, a destination to which Venice Marco Polo Airport opened a direct gateway last September with the launch of a direct flight to Shanghai. The active support of Rector Tiziana Lippiello was instrumental in making that connection a reality. This shared interest continues, and we remain committed to developing it further, with plans for additional links between Venice and China.”
