What is a Superior Advanced School?

The International College is Ca' Foscari University of Venice’s honours school (Superior Advanced School): an institution within the University that offers highly motivated and academically talented students a parallel and complementary programme alongside their standard university curriculum.

Honour schools are merit-based institutions distinguished by academic excellence and a strong commitment to their students' cultural and professional development, combining academic rigour with innovation. They offer multidisciplinary programmes that integrate theoretical learning with practical and research-based activities, in an environment that fosters critical thinking and intellectual curiosity.

There are only ten Superior Advanced Schools in Italy, all belonging to the ASSI [ITA] network. Established to strengthen the Italian higher education system through high-quality teaching and research, the network aims to create a dynamic environment in which education and research are closely intertwined, thereby encouraging the development of advanced scientific and cultural expertise.

The Core Features Shared by the Superior Advanced School

  • Complementary programme: an additional academic pathway alongside the standard degree curriculum.
  • Residential experience: living alongside students who share your enthusiasm for learning makes university life truly unique.
  • Merit-based admission and progression: access and continued enrolment are reserved for the most deserving students.
  • Interdisciplinarity: the College teaches students to connect knowledge and perspectives from different fields.
