RESEARCH INTERESTS
At present, my research focuses on the dynamics of economic growth and convergence, with particular reference to regional economies. In this area, I have been concentrating on: the formalization of the role of communication costs on innovation activity and economic growth in urban areas; the relationship between convergence dynamics and the economic cycle; the development of nonparametric methods for the analysis of data characterized by spatial dependence.
In addition, I have recently studied: the role of governance structure on wages and innovation activity in US metropolitan areas; the size of the local labor multiplier; the impact of international migrations on labor productivity and income levels and growth rates, and consequently, the implications for spatial disparities; the determinants of regional economic growth; the determinants of regional population growth; the size and features of wage differentials in the Italian labor market; the detection of boundary conditions/regime changes in fractionally integrated time series.
