Early Life Conditions and Later Life Health and Socio-economic Outcomes

Meeting Room 2, San Giobbe Economics Campus

Maarten Lindeboom
Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

By now, it is known that later life health and socio-economic outcomes are determined very early in life, even in utero. This short PhD course gives an introduction to the literature and discusses most important empirical issues that arise when assessing causal effects using observational data in part I. Part II is concerned with the underlying mechanisms and economic models explaining the empirical findings. Students have to write referee reports on journal submissions and present these and the recommendations to the editor in front of the class.
