EcoHealth and Planetary Health in the Anthropocene: Local and global issues in South Asia

Online seminar

Special guest: Dr.Deborah Nadal, Marie Curie Fellow, University of Glasgow

Even though the Anthropocene has not been formally acknowledged as a distinct geological epoch yet, literature on the interconnections between health and the unprecedented human impact on Earth's geology and ecosystems is mounting. The holistic approaches of EcoHealth and Planetary Health, often considered the expanded, systemic versions of One Health, can help us understand how to secure and support long-term health to all – humans, animals, plants, and the environment. This lesson focuses on the major challenges to human wellbeing and ecological integrity faced by the South Asian region.

This lecture was part of the course: Environmental History and Humanities in India (lm10 / lmh070), Professor Stefano Beggiora
