Attendance of the "Research methods seminar" is mandatory for all master thesis students. I offer the seminar 3 times per year (February, May, September). The next seminar is planned for 31 May (see separate notice) and is thus relevant for all students intending to graduate in the fall session 2022. Please consult this webpage for information on the exact date of the seminar. In the meantime, all prospective master thesis students are invited to work through the material uploaded on the google drive (books and papers on research methods).

======

Dear bachelor thesis students

below some very basic information on  the structure of the bachelor thesis. Typically, a bachelor thesis will have 3-4 chapters

1: intro, problem statement, research objectives

2: lit review = critical and systematic summary of the main scientific studies published on the topic of your thesis. Target should be to analyze between 30-50 papers.

Note: please buikld your articles (keyword search) exclusively from the 5 databases accessible via BEC

Business Source, Sciencedirect, Wiley, Springer, SAGE.

Do NOT read and cite any other articles (there are too many junk papers published in apparently scientific journals, none of which are indexed in the databases above).

Reading textbooks may be necessary, citing them typically not since you will need to go back to the original article in any event.

3: optional: case study

4: summary, conclusions, key findings

Citations: APA (7th ed)

Length: ca 40-80 pp. Shorter may be better.

Formatting: see formating guidelines of international journals (e.g. Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business Research).
