Maria Katherina Dal Barco is a PhD candidate in “Science and Management of Climate Change” at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. Her PhD project is meant to develop Machine Learning methods for multi-risk assessment in coastal areas, with the main focus on the coastal area of the Veneto region, in the frame of the Interreg Italy-Croatia AdriaClim project.
She graduated in “Environmental Sciences – Global Environmental Change” at the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (110/110 cum Laude). Her MSc thesis focused on the development and implementation of a Bayesian Network approach for multi-scenario analysis supporting coastal erosion risk management in the Apulian shoreline carried out within the Interreg Greece-Italy TRITON project.
During her Master’s Degree Programme Maria Katherina holded a training internship at the Fondazione Centro Euro-Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici (CMCC – RAAS Division), where she gained expertise in climate change and coastal erosion risk assessment and management within DG CLIMA and Interreg Greece-Italy TRITON projects.
Since March 2020 she has been part of RAAS (Risk Assessment and Adaptation Strategies) Division at CMCC, where her research interests refer to climate change vulnerability and multi-risk assessment in coastal areas.
