At the call deadline, supported researchers must have a maximum of 8 years full-time equivalent experience in research, measured from the date that the researcher was in a possession of a doctoral degree and certified by appropriate documents. Years of experience outside research and career breaks (i.e. due to parental leave), will not be taken into account.

Types of grants

Support is foreseen for individual, trans-national fellowships awarded to the best or most promising researchers for employment in EU Member States or Associated Countries. Fellowships are either:

  • European Fellowships: they are held in EU Member States or Associated Countries and are open to researchers either coming to Europe or moving within Europe for a period of 12 to 24 months, and specifically to a country where the researcher has not resided or carried out their main activity for more than 12 months over the last 3 years prior to the call deadline. Therefore, candidates who wish to apply with Ca' Foscari cannot have resided or carried out their main activity in Italy between 13/09/2020 and 13/09/2023.

This action is based on a secondment to a third country (from 12 to 24 months) and a mandatory 12-month return period to a European host institution.

"The decision to apply for a Marie Curie Global fellowship with Ca' Foscari University came as a natural choice for me. While previously working as postdoc within the ERC project 'Aristotle in the Italian Vernacular', coordinated by Prof. Marco Sgarbi, I realized in first person how lively and dynamic the university was. The Marie Curie call provided me with the opportunity to return, thanks to the competence and promptness of Ca' Foscari research office that proved key to my appointment. The academic staff did the rest to have me join them at the start of my fellowship: I simply couldn't turn down the generous tenure-track offer that I received from an inviting institution that already feels like home."
