Overview

The Bachelor’s Degree Programme in History offers a comprehensive education in both European and non-European history, spanning from antiquity to modern times. It integrates the study of historical events with a thorough examination of the methodological, interpretative, and ethical questions raised by the development of societies and cultures.

One of the programme’s strengths is the opportunity to study in Venice, surrounded by an invaluable historical heritage preserved in prestigious cultural and archival institutions. Venice also serves as an extraordinary vantage point for observing the challenges that contemporary society poses to cities, communities and ecosystems.

The degree in History is a journey through past events and phenomena, during which students learn—through the method of critical inquiry—to reconstruct and understand the succession of different societies and their interconnections. It provides a solid grounding in historical and humanistic studies, as well as essential knowledge of the content and methodologies of research in the historical, anthropological, social and documentary fields, covering the entire period from antiquity to the present day.

The programme offers diverse pathways for cultural development in the field of historical and social sciences, enabling access to a range of Master’s degree programmes. It offers valuable tools early on for managing interpersonal relationships and complex decision-making processes within organisational structures such as businesses and public administrations.

Multimedia

Hi.Storytelling

The project organised by the Department of Humanities, open to all students enrolled in its Bachelor’s Degree Programmes, provided an opportunity to showcase learning experiences creatively through video. The project, which may serve as an alternative to an internship, combined classroom lessons with practical work such as concept development, writing, visual design, and filming, and was conducted over five weekly sessions.
The Hi.Storytelling project was made possible thanks to funding from the support measures of Ministerial Decree 752/2021.
