Bachelor's Degree Programme in
Language, Culture and Society of Asia and Mediterranean Africa
Enrolment from 2025/2026

Additional Learning Requirements (OFA)

Italian Language OFA

The bachelor's degree programme in Language, Culture and Society of Asia and Mediterranean Africa (LICSAAM) requires an adequate knowledge of Italian.

Your level of Italian language knowledge will be assessed through a test after your enrolment which assesses your reading comprehension skills, lexical and morphosyntactic knowledge, and of the ability to use the language in specific contexts. Two exams sessions are scheduled:

  • Saturday 15th November 2025, 10.30-12.00 - Aula 4A San Giobbe
  • Saturday 13th December 2025, 10.30-12.00 - Aula 5A San Giobbe

You can sit the test only once, registering through your Reserved Area. The test is deemed to be passed only if at least 65% of the answers are correct. To sit the test students are required to bring their own laptop fully charged.

To get further information about the test you can reach out to the Italian Test coordinator: Prof. Andrea Facchin at ofaitalianodsaam@unive.it.

In the event of a failed test, an Additional Learning Requirements (OFA) of Italian language will be assigned. This must be fulfilled by attending the remedial course LT4001 OFA – Italian Language during the second semester and passing the corresponding proficiency test. While attendance of the course is not mandatory, it is strongly recommended.

If you do not fulfill the OFA by September 30th, 2026, you will not be allowed to take any exams included in your study plan until its fulfillment.

How to fulfil the Italian Language OFA

In order to fulfil your OFA you must register for and sit the LT4001 OFA Italian language exam. Please note that in order to register for any exam, you need to first finalise your study plan (piano di studi).

Four exam sessions are scheduled:

  • two exam dates in the January exam session;
  • one exam date in the June exam session;
  • one exam date in the August/September exam session.

Exams are oral. Exam dates will be published on the degree programme’s website. Follow: Study > Exams.

OFA Exemption Categories

Students are considered to have met the requirement - and are therefore exempt from the test - if they have:

  • achieved a High School Diploma mark of at least 80/100 (or 48/60);

  • taken the TOLC-SU test and obtained a minimum overall score of 10 out of 30 in the section on reading comprehension and language knowledge;

  • passed at least one university-level exam in Italian language, linguistics, or literature;

  • obtained a university degree.

Computer Science Knowledge

Teaching on the Computer Literacy course will be conducted on an interactive online platform that helps students develop the skills necessary to create web pages and code. The course will use material from Khan Academy, one of the world’s most popular educational websites. The course will be available in either Italian or English. The course will be accompanied by resources for students including exercises and mock exams.

The new Computer Literacy exam will be mandatory for students. For more information on the course programmeteaching methods and assessments, please see the course syllabus.
