Overview

The Master’s Degree Programme in Archival and Library Science, offered jointly with the University of Padua, trains graduates with advanced theoretical, methodological, and practical skills in archival studies, bibliography, and library science, engaging with information and communication disciplines.

The programme is organised around a single curriculum with two study paths, aimed at preparing professional archivists and librarians.

The study plan includes a core set of courses shared by both paths, providing a strong foundation in archival and library science, with a focus on the transmission, preservation, and management of archival and bibliographic materials in both analogue and digital contexts. The specialised courses in each path, which are theoretical, practical, and methodological in nature, cover the methods of transmission, management, enhancement, and communication of archival and bibliographic materials—both analogue and digital—from the medieval period to the contemporary era.

Opinions

Paola Degni

Programme coordinator

“The degree programme trains professionals with expertise in managing both traditional and digital bibliographic and documentary data, enabling them to work in various fields related to the preservation and management of books and documents. The curriculum is notable for its practical approach and laboratory activities, which combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience in archival description and cataloguing.”
