Why choose this programme
the programme is delivered entirely in English and offers three innovative curricula: Quantum Materials and Technology, Quantitative Biology (a joint track in Physics of the Brain in collaboration with SISSA in Trieste), and Physics of Finance and Economics. The programme combines modern physics with computer and electronic engineering, applying these fields to quantum technologies and the physics of complexity, across physical, biological, and social systems.
it offers advanced training for a modern, cosmopolitan cohort of graduates, preparing them to address challenges in cutting-edge technologies, including biophysics and biomedicine, economics, and finance—areas where quantitative physics and engineering methods are becoming ever more significant
it provides the essential preparation to comprehend and model various facets of a rapidly evolving world, ensuring competitiveness in both the job market and leading international research
Overview
The Master’s Degree Programme in Engineering Physics at Ca’ Foscari, taught in English, offers courses in modern physics as well as computer and electronic engineering, applied to quantum technologies and the physics of complexity — both in physical environments and in biological or social systems.
You will develop the ability to understand and model the different aspects of an ever-changing reality, gaining a competitive edge for both the job market and advanced international research.
The programme stands out for its three innovative curricula, which are currently offered nowhere else in Italy:
- Quantum Materials and Technology is designed to tackle the challenges of the second quantum revolution, focusing on quantum computing and quantum communications — particularly quantum optics — and on the study of the physics of advanced materials such as superconductors.
- Quantitative Biology provides solid expertise in biology through courses in bioinformatics, computational biomolecular design, biomolecular engineering, neuroimaging and bioelectronics. Within this track, students may also join a joint programme in Physics of the Brain, offered in collaboration with the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste.
- Physics of Finance and Economics focuses on the study of complexity science applied to economics and finance, with a particular focus on sustainability.
