Why choose this programme

1

you will investigate current dynamics in the Mediterranean area with an interdisciplinary perspective

2

you will acquire theoretical knowledge of transcultural mediation and Mediterranean studies, which are essential for interpreting global processes

3

you will develop social, historical, and cultural expertise, combined with linguistic skills and qualitative and quantitative analysis tools to deeply understand and study the area’s political, economic, and cultural relations

Overview

The Master’s Degree Programme in Trans-Mediterranean Studies: Migration, Cooperation and Development (TRANS-MED) provides a comprehensive understanding of the countries in the southern Mediterranean and their interactions with contemporary Europe.

The programme responds to and incorporates geopolitical developments, training a new generation of experts on the Mediterranean, capable of mediating between content, practices, and ideas, and of establishing connections and networks among academic and non-academic actors such as policymakers, economic operators, and the media. During your studies, you will gain a critical understanding of Mediterranean issues and training as a communication specialist, an expert in transcultural mediation and in the social policies characterising this area.

This represents a unique educational opportunity within the Italian academic landscape. Linguistic expertise enhances interdisciplinary skills in Mediterranean migration studies and intercultural mediation, alongside historical and social knowledge, qualitative and quantitative analytical tools, and methods for field research and data analysis.
