Why choose this programme
the programme focuses on the development, engineering, and application of nanomaterials and bio-nanomaterials across various technology and science fields, teaching both the theory and practice of production, characterisation, and application methods
Overview
Ca' Foscari's Master's Degree in Science and Technology of Bio and Nanomaterials is a multidisciplinary programme that combines biology, chemistry, physics, and materials science to explore scientific questions in innovative ways.
Students from different bachelor's degree programmes can enhance their initial preparation in certain disciplines through online self-study courses offered during the academic year, which can be taken at their most convenient times and days.
The internship and thesis are periods of intense personal commitment, during which you will directly engage with research topics related to the programme, as well as aligned with your interests.
You can choose to undertake this experience in the department's research laboratories or at external facilities, such as national or international laboratories, research institutions, or companies.
Opinions
Programme coordinator
"This degree programme is highly multidisciplinary. The properties of materials are examined through a holistic approach, where disciplines such as biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and materials science work come together to develop future materials for use in various sectors, such as nanomedicine, water treatment, and new energy sources."
International network, experience abroad and employment
You can apply to spend part of your curriculum abroad by participating in international programmes organised in collaboration with one or more partner universities and leading to a Double Degree or a Joint Degree.
Current Double Degrees:
- Double Degree with the Kyoto Institute of Technology - KIT (Kyoto, Japan).
Ca' Foscari has over 1,500 partnerships with international institutions, including programmes like Erasmus+ and Overseas, enabling students to study and intern abroad.
Ca' Foscari's Career Service guides you into the world of work with advice services, CV support, meetings with institutions and companies, and the search for and setup of training internships in Italy and abroad.
After graduation
you will be able to work as a specialist in Materials Science and Technology, Nano, and Biotechnology within companies involved in the production, processing, marketing, and development of materials. Opportunities also include management roles across sectors from pharmaceuticals to innovative materials and fine chemicals, both in multinational and local settings
you will be able to work in both public and private research and development laboratories involved in the study, certification, and innovation of materials. You will also be able to contribute to the development of new technologies and applications, including by joining innovative spin-offs or high-tech start-ups
