Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, with its Department of Economics, is amongst the few Italian universities participating in the international Job Market for economists, that allows universities from all over the world to meet with and enlist the best young researchers.

Around 100 scholars sent their program and scientific works to the Ca’ Foscari Department of Economics. After the first round of selection, the commission met 20 candidates in London (United Kingdom), one of the Job Market locations including Bilbao (Spain), Toronto (Canada), Chicago (United States) and Hong Kong, while another ten were interviewed online.

On finishing this stage, 12 researchers, half of whom are foreign, were invited to the Ca’ Foscari Economics Campus to attend seminars and engage in direct discussions with professors (known as fly-outs)

The Job Market seminars, open to the selected scholars, began this week and will continue until 15th March. Direct contact, understanding the working environment, testing the candidate’s motivation, in-depth analysis and the discussion of obtained results and perspectives of their research are all strong features of the recruitment process used by foreign universities.

These scholars will then be invited to participate in a competitive selection process for two research positions in econometrics and empirical economics.
