Curriculum vitae

Federico Polo was born in Asolo (Treviso) in 1976. He obtained the Laurea in Industrial Chemistry in 2003 and the PhD in Chemical Sciences in 2007 at the University of Padova under the supervision of Prof. Flavio Maran. His research area focused on molecular electrochemistry and electron transfer mechanism. During his PhD, he spent 9 months at the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, to characterize self-assembled monolayers and biomimetic systems by scanning electrochemical microscopy. Afterwards, he spent several research stays abroad as postdoctoral fellow and visiting scholar. His scientific interests are related to:

• Molecular electrochemistry and electron transfer mechanisms;
• Electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) studies and applications in (bio-)sensing, and imaging;
• Chemical sensing and biosensing technology and related applications for health, food and environment;
• Surface chemistry and synthesis, characterization and application of 2D and 3D self-assembled systems (SAMs), metal/metal-oxide nanoparticles and metal complexes for (bio-)sensing, and catalysis;
• Light-emitting diodes (e.g. OLED) and related technologies for energetics and sustainability;
• Design and development of experimental setup for electrochemical studies and related applications.

Prof. Polo is leading the Molecular Electrochemistry Laboratory at the Department of Molecular Sciences and Nanosystems. For more information, please visit our website: www.polo-meclab.com
