Marco Sgarbi Will Be the New Rector of Ca' Foscari. He Is the Youngest in the University's History

On Thursday 21 May, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice elected its new Rector at the end of the fourth round of voting: Marco Sgarbi is the 24th Rector of Ca’ Foscari. He will lead the university for the next six years, taking office on 1 October 2026. 

Rector’s Elections: Pasini and Sgarbi Proceed to the Run-off

The University will return to the polls on Thursday, 21 May for a fourth round of voting, consisting of a run-off between the two candidates who received the highest number of votes in the previous round, Giacomo Pasini and Marco Sgarbi. The new Rector will take office on 1 October 2026, succeeding Rector Tiziana Lippiello.

University closures from 24 December to 6 January. BAUM and BALI-CFZ are open on 5 and 6 January

All Ca’ Foscari University of Venice premises will be closed for the Christmas holidays from Wednesday 24 December 2025 to Tuesday 6 January 2026, and will reopen as usual on Wednesday 7 January 2026.
