Overview

The Master’s Degree in Digital and Public Humanities at Ca’ Foscari University combines the humanities and computer science to promote, enhance, and disseminate cultural content. The programme is taught entirely in English.
Its multidisciplinary approach bridges different areas of knowledge and fosters cross-cutting skills, connecting past and future through digital and multimedia tools.
The main areas of study include computer science, linguistics and literature, history, law, art, and archival studies. Lectures are complemented by workshops and laboratory activities organised in collaboration with the Venice Centre for Digital and Public Humanities at the Department of Humanities, which hosts the programme.
Students are also required to complete a 150-hour internship with companies, institutions, or organisations, in Italy or abroad, to develop professional and technical skills applicable to both employment and research.

Opinions

Stefano Dall’Aglio

Programme coordinator

“In a changing world, we believe that also the way we approach the humanities should change. By combining traditional subjects such as philology, literature, history, art history, archaeology, and cultural heritage with new methodologies like informatics and public engagement, we believe we can prepare our students for a wide range of careers, including some that do not yet exist.”

Student

“The programme stands out for its innovative approach and its way of connecting the humanities with the digital world. It truly represents the future of humanities studies, as it allows students to preserve and promote cultural heritage using technological tools. Its delivery entirely in English encourages an international learning environment, while the strong foundation in computer science — including programming and data management — makes the training more comprehensive and current.”
