Since 2026, Alessandra Cecilia Jacomuzzi has served as the Rector’s Delegate for Faculty Development at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, within the Office of the Vice-Rector for Education and Teaching Innovation. She is a tenured researcher in General Psychology at the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, where she has carried out research and teaching since 2011. She teaches General Psychology, Developmental and Life-Span Psychology, Foundations of Cognitive Science, and Cognitive and Behavioural Neuroscience.
She is a member of the Executive Board of the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage and of the Department’s Research Committee. She also serves as the Department’s Delegate for the wellbeing of academic and technical-administrative staff. She is Principal Investigator of the PRISMA/PRO-BEN project, funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR), which focuses on university student wellbeing.
From 2012 to 2017 she was the Department Director’s Delegate for Sustainability. In 2015–2016 she was the Rector’s Delegate for initiatives supporting the assistance, inclusion and wellbeing of people with disabilities. She held the same role as the Department Director’s Delegate from 2017 to 2020. Since 2019 she has represented the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage and the Department of Humanities at the Center for Sustainability (C4S) of the Ca’ Foscari Foundation. Since 2020 she has been a member of the board of the University’s Centre for Human Rights Studies (CESTIDUR).
Her research lies within cognitive psychology and experimental phenomenology. It focuses on perception, including multimedia perception, and on applying the psychology of thinking to the economic and social sciences. One specific line of research addresses the interaction between humans and technology, with particular attention to cognitive biases in interaction with artificial intelligence. Another addresses the psychological processes underlying the acceptance of novel foods.
She serves on the editorial boards of the Journal for the Philosophy of Language, Mind and the Arts (JOLMA), published by Edizioni Ca’ Foscari, and Frontiers in Computer Science. She is a member of the scientific committee of the Master’s programme in Neuromarketing, Consumer Science and Market Research at IULM University, Milan. She is also a member of the Ca’ Foscari Agrifood Lab and of the Italian Psychological Association (AIP, Experimental Section), for which she coordinated the organisation of the 32nd National Congress of the Experimental Section in 2026.
She is the author of more than fifty scientific publications, including the textbook Fondamenti di psicologia generale (with Paolo Legrenzi, il Mulino), Introduzione alle scienze cognitive (il Mulino), and Si fa presto a dire psicologia (with Paolo Legrenzi).
